Meet: Corin Leach
Corin is our newest Bog Beauty, taking Ali’s place in our team for HPM 2017. Originally Canadian, she moved to the UK nearly 10 years ago and runs for Totley AC.
Favourite running route: Locally: The Exterminator route is one of my favourites; it’s easy to get on the route as it’s close to Sheffield starting from the Cricket in Totley it takes in Blackamoor, Burbage, Higger Tor, Stanage, Padley Gorge, Longshaw Estate and Totley Moor, what more could you want? Afar: The Welsh 3000’s/Welsh Vegan 3000’s Race Route; it’s a grueling Ultra distance race that I ran in 2016. I particularly love the Snowdon/Crib Goch sections, and Tryfan too (anything with a scramble!). To hear more about the race check out fellow runner Anna’s account of it.
Most boggy moment: Luna steals my thunder with her most boggy moment while descending a very boggy field at the end of a run beside me I see Luna’s two front paws get stuck in the bog so much that her forward momentum made the rest of her body flip over in a forward roll type move onto her back. She flipped over, shook out and carried on like nothing had happened.
Running goals: My plan for this next year to do some more runs and weekends away in the Lake District. It’s a place I’ve not ventured to often, so I’m looking forward to doing the classic routes and maybe some races too!
About: Corin is a Canuck who moved to Sheffield from Vancouver Island nearly 10 years ago. She holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in a Ghillie suit which was achieved in the time of 3:59:13 at the London Marathon in 2016. Corin is rarely seen on a run without her faithful sidekick Luna the Sprocker Spaniel.
